Shraddha Charitable Trust
A pioneering non-profit vocational workshop, Shraddha was founded in the year 1998 to help autistic adults earn a living by channelising their skills into crafting decorative and utility items. Born with Autism, a disorder of the brain that causes lifelong developmental disability affecting communication and social skills, they are often assumed to lead a dependent life. Not so at Shraddha. We believe that with the right mix of vision and passion, and with the help of special educators and professionals their potential can be fully explored.
After completing their special program at S.P.J. Sadhana School, our young adults are trained to master simple skills such as pasting, sticking, folding plastering, moulding pressing etc. These daily activities boost their confidence and give them the thrill of creating. The products you see here are proof of the will-power and perseverance of these special folk who along with our volunteers create objects that bring joy to the makers and users alike. The proceeds from the sales go to them in the form of monthly remuneration. At Shraddha, it is not just all work and no play! Our youngsters follow an intensive therapeutic routine that helps them focus and improve concentration and retention. Regular picnics, parties, movies and outings are looked forward to with great enthusiasm.
